Projects
The following photos illustrate some major projects that Roger McKenzie has been involved in over his career.
We are developing an innovative three phase AC to DC converter system that is currently being used to convert the SINGLE phase supply to THREE phase supply.
Purepods Ltd operate tourist accommodation in remote areas where there are no water, electrical or space heating services. This application is vulnerable to failures and a mayor monitoring system with telemetry helps to minimise customer issues.
Between 2002 and 2012 Roger worked for AuCom Electronics Ltd, which develops, manufactures and sells soft start equipment for induction motors.
Roger was heavily involved in all aspects of the development of their medium voltage range of starters, where ratings range from 2.2kV to 13.8kV and 60A to 320A.
This photo shows a 4.2kV unit on the production line.
Between 1996 and 2001 Roger worked for a Crown Research Institute and the New Zealand Government funded his research into power electronics. The research aim was to directly connect power electronics to the 11kV ac distribution network to manage the network power quality.
This photo shows the 30A prototype that successfully controlled reactive power and harmonic content on the 11kV line.
